Elements and Performance Criteria

Determine job requirements
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
Identify job requirements from specifications, job sheets or work instructions
Select treatments and processes/ equipment for producing protective finishes
- Select treatment processes appropriate to the work requirements
Select process parameters to achieve required finish
Select appropriate equipment to achieve specified finish, as required
Monitor and control protective finish processes and operating conditions
- Set operating/process parameters necessary to produce required protective finish/specifications
Monitor and confirm surface condition of finished components and identify abnormalities
Take corrective actions to rectify non-conforming conditions
Carry out pre-treatment processes, where applicable
Maintain solutions for protective finishes
- Check solution compositions and confirm to specification/operating range
Identify adjustment requirements/additions
Make additions to adjust solution composition to correct operating range
Carry out purification procedures, as necessary
Maintain anodes to ensure correct operation
Maintain equipment for protective finishes
- Check performance of ancillary equipment and take remedial action, as necessary
Maintain electrical contacts, anode condition and process transfer equipment
